Enterprise Mobility

intern

May - August 2018 • Dallas, TX

What I liked

I got to train and mentor a new Manager-in-Training and two Assistant Managers . During this internship I mastered superior sales techniques and customer service skills. It was a great internship to network and see a whole different side of what providing a service is all about.

What I wish was different

During this internship the managers were not as professional as I would have liked them to be. They also had a lot of internal problems and that affected the business significantly. The pay was fair and the training was great but the company needs more micromanaging with their interns. Many times a lot of employees did not have any idea of what they were suppose to do with the interns.

Advice

Great internship to start with, but I would not recommend if you are not into sales or customer service. The Human Resources folks will try to tell you that you will learn different accounting and finance skills that will help you. However, during my whole internship we did not do anything other than customer service and selling insurance.

Management Intern

May - August 2018 • Richmond, VA

What I liked

Learned a lot - very supportive team and great training in customer service and sales.

What I wish was different

Less hours (I had another job and a summer class to manage alongside the internship). And because I was placed at a smaller branch I felt like I had to do a lot more to help manage the store than other interns that were in bigger branches with more staff. I would’ve preferred to focus more on my sales and learning about the business than having to be sent out to wash a car or pick up a customer. Also having an intern contest was a bit much, especially when my manager was (rightfully) worried about running the branch, and not much on the contest for me.

Advice

I would say do it, good experience, but be ready to work long and very productive hours.

Sales Management Trainee

May - August 2018 • Raleigh, NC

What I liked

The fact that you were able to see how much your work, as an individual, helped the team. As well as the fact that hardwork is recognized and rewarded.

What I wish was different

I can't think of anything, I had a wonderful experience.

Advice

Don't be afraid to dive right in. It might seem overwhelming at first, but the sooner you start being hands on, the easier time you will have learning it. Plus, ypu can always ask questions. They expect and encourage it.

Marketing Intern

June - September 2018 • Puyallup, WA

What I liked

I loved the experience that this opportunity gave me in the real business world. I had multiple opportunities to manage a team, work on public speaking and public relations and put my marketing and business skills to use. The team I worked with also made the experience enjoyable.

What I wish was different

I only wish there had been more time to focus on certain business aspects, but overall there was good mix of everything.

Advice

This internship takes a lot of hard work and dedication. It was not easy but, as a result, was so rewarding.

What I liked

The hands-on experience in sales and the support I received from my managers helping to develop me for management roles in the future.

What I wish was different

There were a couple days before training where we were required to be in the branch, and we had no idea what we were doing yet so we felt like we were in the way all day.

Management Trainee

February - June 2016 • Tampa, FL

What I liked

I loved the work environment. I learned so much. I know so much about cars, customer service and the business itself.

What I wish was different

I wish there was a little bit more hands on training at the actual branch.

Advice

Try your best. You will make mistakes, so just learn from the mistakes and change them.

Management Trainee Intern

December 2016 • Scottsdale, AZ

What I liked

I loved how flexible they are with my work schedule. As a full-time student it is tough balancing class, work, and a social life. Along with that you really get experience with sales and customer service. Lastly, our team was awesome to work with! if you succeed in your position, they will offer a full-time position after graduation

What I wish was different

I wish pay was commission or even just a higher hourly rate. We do the same job as a full-time employee, and feel like we work hard enough to deserve a higher rate.

Advice

Networking is key. I have met so many bright minded people, and they all have shared amazing advice. As a young college kid you need to absorb all that personal advice. Those peers have experienced many of the same things, and maybe you can learn from their mistakes.

Management Trainee

May - August 2017 • Poway, CA

What I liked

Enterprise has a friendly work environment. You work with the same people every day and most people tend to be very outgoing and open to help. Management is very loose giving you a lot of flexibility on how you complete your work.

What I wish was different

The job itself is not very challenging. The responsibilities I received are: * Sell protection packages to customers * Fill up gas * Drive car to repair shop * Pick up customers from their homes * Wash cars This was essentially all I did every single day. I asked for additional responsibilities but I didn't receive anything as those are the responsibilities that "management trainees" do. Work day is 7AM - 6:15PM Promotion is purely based on sales score

Advice

This is a SALES position. Even though they advertise it as a management position, it is purely sales. You get a lot of experience with sales and if that is what you are looking for, than this is a great place for you to be. When you first start the job, be ready to spend a lot of your day driving around and washing cars. Management has a large portion of their income dictated by how much their branch sells. It is likely that if you are not good at selling from the start, they will assign you to do more customer pick ups.

Management Trainee Intern

May - August 2017 • Portsmouth, NH

What I liked

The pace. Employees at every level are always moving around, which was exciting and made the days go by quickly. Plus everyone has been in your shoes before, either as an intern or a management trainee, so it's very easy to talk to managers at any level.

What I wish was different

They really throw you right into the rental life, which can be pretty intimidating, especially at a branch as busy as Portsmouth. The hours can be long, and wearing a suit in hot weather can exhaust you.

Advice

Be prepared to jump right in on day one, and don't sweat the long hours. Always push a sale, but be respectful of people's wishes - customer satisfaction is more important for your branch than additional revenue.

Creative Writing Intern

May 2017 • St. Louis, MO

What I liked

I was allowed a lot of creative freedom in the internship. My managers set guidelines and expectations for me, but I was able to create the content that I thought would be best for the blog that I was working on. I also had the opportunity to work from home--it requires a lot of discipline, but it is also very convenient.

What I wish was different

I wished there had been more interns at the location where I interned--I did go into the office once a week and there was another Creative Writing Intern but I didn't get the traditional intern experience where you get to meet a lot of other interns that are the same age as you and go through a specific program.

Advice

From the beginning, work hard to impress your boss/manager. I know that seems obvious, but it is easy to get relaxed once you become more comfortable in your work environment. You never know what opportunities you will have based on the work you put in. I was hired on permanently with the company; my managers created a part-time position for me and are working with me while I am still in school. It was a wonderful opportunity and they appreciated and recognized my hard work. Even if you think you are putting in all that you can, think of ways to challenge yourself and really put your best foot forward.

Software Engineering Intern

May - July 2018 • St. Louis, MO

What I liked

Enterprise Holdings is an amazing company to work for. The culture and atmosphere of the work place is extremely supportive, genuine and energetic. The team I was placed with for the summer was super helpful and encouraged us to ask questions and push ourselves to learn more throughout our ten week internship.

What I wish was different

Not much really. The Talent Acquisition team who ran the Internship experience was very prepared to have interns for the summer and planned countless activities and opportunities for us to network and grow our career at Enterprise.

Advice

Be open to learning and network! I had the opportunity to shadow a lot of different teams and meet so many different people throughout my experience and this also helped me learn more about what I would like to do after college.
