Mount Sinai Health System

Clinical research assistant

May - August 2018 • Toronto, Ontario

What I liked

Learned to obtain consent from patients, how to make a clincal research questionnaire. My colleagues were amazing motivating me to go to work.

What I wish was different

I wish I could have had more patient interaction.

Advice

Clinical research takes time to see outcomes from research and it is usually at the very end months later where you begin to feel achievement. So dont give up!!

Student Nurse Intern

June - August 2018 • New York City, NY

What I liked

I had the opportunity to be a student nurse intern on a Mother/ Baby Postpartum floor at Mount Sinai Hopstial. I loved working along side some of the best nurses and seeing the care they provide to their patients. I gained so much knowledge that I would not have learned in school and for that I’m so greatful. In addition, I found my passion in the nursing field. I love the feeling of educating a new mom about how to care for her baby and seeing the worry go away and seeing all these new families starting.

What I wish was different

I enjoyed my experience so much that I don’t think there is one thing I didn’t have the opportunity to see, learn or do. I worked three 12.5 hour shifts a week and saw and cared for so many babies and new mothers.

Advice

I would say although a new opportunity may seem scary you should always make the best of it. Be eager to learn and you will be rewarded after with all the knowledge.
