Training doesn’t adequately prepare one for the position itself. It should have been more intensive.

The knowledge base used is convoluted. It is hard to grasp concepts when instructions aren’t properly aligned.

I wish that there had been more communication with my direct supervisor before the first day

I learned a lot from this experience but decided to pursue other opportunities as I am still a junior and have 1 more summer where I could intern. I think having 2 distinct internships help students grow a lot.

I really enjoy the culture at WPS Health Solutions. Within the company, you are able to talk to everyone. I had the opportunity to talk to the CEO and many Vice Presidents.

The experience was amazing even while being remote. I am thankful for WPS Health Solutions to continue the internship program through these crazy times.

What I wish was different

Due to COVID my internship thankfully wasn't canceled but rather it went remote. I would have loved for it to be in person to have gotten to know my coworkers better and have gone to all the internship events that were unable to be held.

What I liked

Diverse atmosphere, great work ethics, and tons of work events for interns.

What I wish was different

I wish processes and practices were stream-lined well with documentation. Its a double edged sword though, processes seem to be always changing; but some old processes at WPS still exist, and could be documented better. Processes need to be identified from previous employees, which could be good if you have strong interpersonal skills.

Advice

WPS is a great company to work for, and was an amazing experience. Solid foundation of work ethics, dynamic work environment, and strong implementation of a new-ish agile type project management.
