Compensation:

Position Summary & Responsibilities

The position (K0213250)

Planning, Implementation & Evaluation: Assess emergency care needs of children within the state. Identify & prioritize initiatives for improvement of the emergency care of children, both prehospital and emergency department, utilizing data, guidance from the EMSC Advisory Committee and best practices identified by other states. Seek and apply for federal funding to support program priorities and initiatives. Track KS compliance status on EMSC performances measure activities & targets of implementation. Coordinate numerous initiatives (i.e. annual pediatric conference, EMSC educational offerings, etc.). Increase awareness of pediatric emergency healthcare needs throughout KS (i.e. develop and disseminate promotional materials at public events and school nursing, hospital and EMS conferences and meetings). Submit required progress and status reports to HRSA. Monitor outcomes of all grant funded activities. Utilize data to identify successes and possible areas for improvement.

Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following: 

Leadership: Work with the Emergency Medical Services for Children (EMSC) Innovation and Improvement Center (EIIC) and other EMSC program coordinators across the nation to identify best practices for achieving the EMSC performance measures. Develop collaborative partnerships for the improvement of pediatric emergency care

education and research. Serve as EMSC liaison to other agencies/programs within KS to assure the integration of pediatric priorities into disaster planning, EMS education, injury prevention and trauma system development. Serve as liaison to the federal EMSC program. Represent KS on the National Association of EMS Officials Pediatric

Emergency Care Council (PECC). Direct and support the EMSC Advisory Council by defining membership roles and responsibilities, recruiting members, and organizing quarterly meetings.

Qualifications

Education:  

  • High School, GED

Licensing & Certification:

  • Valid Driver's License - Incumbent is required to have and maintain a valid driver's license when operating a state vehicle, a private vehicle, or a rental vehicle for the benefit of the State.         

Minimum Qualifications:  

  • Four years’ experience applying knowledge and skills associated with the emergency care of pediatric patients.

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in management, public health, or health care
  • Master’s degree in public health or health care 
  • Word
  • Proofreading, editing, attention to detail
  • Four years’ experience in government, health care, or public health
  • Experience in planning and conducting meetings, facilitating small and large work group discussions
  • Public speaking experience
  • Experience developing written materials for technical and lay audiences
  • Experience in seeking and applying for federal funding to support program priorities and initiatives
