Fundraising and Resource Development Coordinator

The International Association of Women Judges (IAWJ) is currently seeking applications for an unpaid internship with the International Association of Women Judges (IAWJ) to support our fundraising and resource development efforts. While the position is unpaid, we are happy to work with universities to facilitate academic credit and can accommodate students with work-study arrangements. Position Title: Fundraising and Resource Development Coordinator (Internship)
Location: Preference for candidates based in the D.C. Metro Area or East Coast (remote-friendly)

Position Overview:
The International Association of Women Judges (IAWJ) seeks a dynamic and motivated Fundraising and Resource Development Coordinator (Intern) to support our efforts to expand and diversify funding streams, deepen donor engagement, and sustain impactful global programs that promote gender equality and women’s leadership in the judiciary.

Working under the guidance of the Executive Director and in close collaboration with the broader IAWJ team, the Coordinator will contribute to key aspects of fundraising, donor communications, and resource development.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist in drafting donor-facing materials, including concept notes, funding proposals, progress reports, and donor updates.

Conduct research on prospective donors, including foundations, individual philanthropists, corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs, and government funding opportunities.

Support the planning and coordination of fundraising campaigns and special donor events.

Help manage and update donor databases, tracking systems, and acknowledgment protocols.

Contribute to the design and refinement of pitch decks, fundraising toolkits, and donor stewardship materials.

Assist with monitoring and evaluation of fundraising efforts and preparation of internal progress reports.

Perform additional tasks that advance the sustainability, visibility, and strategic goals of IAWJ’s global mission.

Student Supervision: 

Students will work under the guidance of the Deputy Executive Director and Executive Director, with weekly check-in meetings to review progress, provide feedback, and create space for questions, ideas, and support.

Learning Outcomes: 

Fundraising Strategy & Proposal Development – Gain hands-on experience drafting concept notes, funding proposals, and donor communications tailored to diverse audiences, improving persuasive writing and strategic framing skills.

Donor Research & Prospecting – Develop the ability to identify and assess prospective donors by conducting targeted research on foundations, corporations, government agencies, and individual philanthropists, and translating findings into actionable leads.

Campaign & Event Coordination – Learn how to plan, organize, and support donor engagement activities, including fundraising campaigns and special events, with attention to timelines, logistics, and stakeholder relations.

Data & Relationship Management – Build skills in maintaining and using donor databases, tracking systems, and stewardship protocols to strengthen donor relationships and monitor funding pipelines.

Resource Development Tools & Evaluation – Contribute to the design of fundraising toolkits and pitch materials, while gaining practical experience in monitoring and evaluating fundraising efforts to inform future strategies.

Qualifications & Preferences:

Strong writing and research skills

Detail-oriented and highly organized

Interest in international development, gender equality, or nonprofit management

Language skills and familiarity with international fundraising or grant writing are a plus

Preference for candidates based in the D.C. Metro Area or East Coast
