Student Positions in Information Technology Services

Students in all majors are welcome in Information Technology Services (ITS)!  Consider applying for a student opening that will utilize skills and experience you currently have, or wish to develop. By applying to this posting, you will be considered for all of our student positions.  ITS employs 50+ students across its seven departments. 

Apply for a multitude of student openings including:

  • Hardware/software maintenance, troubleshooting, and end user support (customer service)
  • Application development; partner with more experienced professional developers to further your interest in Computer Science
  • Research systems; supporting users of our high-performance computing and research data storage systems
  • Instructional Technology and classroom hardware/software support
  • Data analysis; research design to help answer specific research questions, collect data, conduct analyses (both qualitative and quantitative data), and report results to stakeholders.
  • Network Support; inventory management, updating documentation, surveying (MUST meet UI driving policy which includes a three year driving history and ability to pass driving review).
  • Physical Infrastructure; installation; documentation; involves physical labor/possibly working outdoors (MUST meet UI driving policy which includes a three year driving history and ability to pass driving review).
  • Data Center; planning, collaboration, communication, and customer service (MUST meet UI driving policy which includes a three year driving history and ability to pass driving review).
  • Information Security; technically curious, interested in infosec, troubleshooting, collect & analyze data
  • Clerical and administrative support; event planning, basic computer Office 365 and Outlook use, mail duties

ITS caters to the diverse technology needs of University of Iowa students, faculty, staff, and university visitors by providing technical support, resources, and services to help everyone at the UI work smarter, faster, and safer.  Some of the many IT services include: 

  • Email, calendar, and cloud collaboration tools
  • End user support
  • Technology training
  • Research computing solutions, services, and storage
  • Supporting the incorporation of technology into teaching and learning
  • Web hosting and development
  • Software licensing
  • Information security and policy
  • Administrative systems for records and business processes
  • Application development
  • Identity management
  • Infrastructure, including networking and data centers
