Position Title: Accommodation Assistant
Location: Student Disability Services (SDS)
Supervisor: Hannah Wollack
Rate of Pay: $15.00/hour
Individual will perform various tasks including prepping exam rooms, preparing exams, monitoring cameras, maintaining records and files, and clerical tasks as needed.
BASIC FUNCTION
Assist with the provision of academic accommodations approved through Student Disability Services by administering and proctoring student exams.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Checking students in and out for appointments and exams
- Maintain records and files
- Communicate with faculty and students in-person, via phone, and email
- Administer and proctor exams for students receiving academic accommodations
- Assist students in receiving their academic accommodations during exams, such as setting up software on an exam computer or by scribing for an exam
- Perform clerical and other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- Registered UI graduate student in good conduct and academic standing
- Ability to communicate effectively with faculty, staff, and students in-person, via phone, and email in a professional manner
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment effectively
- Ability to work with students with various disabilities, learning styles, and needs
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions accurately
- Ability to problem solve
- Availability to work final exam and midterm week
WORK HOURS
- 5-20 hours per week. May work up to 40 hours per week during break periods (i.e. summer, winter, and spring break) as assigned.
- Availability during business hours Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
- Finals weeks (Monday – Thursday, 7:30 a.m. – 8 p.m. and Friday 7:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.).
TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
- FERPA Training (once hired)
- HIPAA Training (once hired)
