ADS BIOTEC is a leading biotechnology company based in Omaha, NE. Our growing team consists of nearly 25 individuals, several who started as interns, and others that have been with the company for over 20 years!
Biological Development and Product Engineering are tasked with conducting research, development, and production assistance of products for laboratory and pilot scale processes, typically used for biological and genetic analyses. The studies performed support the company’s businesses, which include product design & manufacturing robotic instrumentation in lab sample processing, manufacturing custom buffers & reagents for the life sciences, and HPLC buffers and columns for use in mRNA and DNA purification.
We are seeking an intern to learn from us how we prepare processes and conduct development to launch new products with the associated quality control tests and validation of procedures to meet product requirements.
As an intern member of our team, you will contribute to the design, development and production launch of these technology-leading products.
Benefits, Duties and Responsibilities
- This is a paid internship.
- We provide flexible schedules during the semester to accommodate class schedules, with full-time work during the summer months. Opportunities exist to continue working full time following graduation.
- One-on-one mentorship, with independent and collaborative skill building.
- Participate in all Product Life Cycle management activities from inception, through design & manufacture, and after sale service and support.
- Assist in the planning and execution of studies required for product development, including investigative, feasibility, verification, validation, and preparations for product launch.
- Draft and review applicable product documentation.
- Develop Quality Control inspections for Laboratory Instrumentation and reagent production. Procure and maintain tools, fixtures, and equipment as needed to support production and inspection activities.
- Perform manufacturing engineering tasks as requested to ensure business and customer needs are met. Maintain and update associated process documentation, participate in continuous process improvements and expense-saving activities.
- Assist the Customer Support organization including control and depot maintenance of spare parts.
Qualifications
- Currently working towards a bachelor’s degree in engineering, life sciences, or equivalent form of associate degree (two-year college or technical school) combined with two or more years of related experience and/or training.
- Fluid dynamics / liquid handling a plus. Laboratory experience using automated systems also a plus.
- Ability to read and understand mechanical/electrical drawings/schematics. Ability to succinctly prepare and present technical information as well as respond to technical inquiries.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of calculus, trigonometry and geometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
