Duties
Serves as a Natural Resource Specialist (Ranger) as part of a multi-disciplinary team performing specific assignments in one or more of these functional areas:
Recreation Management, Visitor Assistance, Environmental Stewardship, Interpretation, and Flood Risk Management.
Performs functions such as inspection, maintenance, and upkeep of recreation facilities and features.
Provides Interpretive Services and Outreach for public to include project tours, educational, and water safety programs.
Patrols project lands by various means to include lake and nonmotorized trails.
Uses Geographic Information System (GIS) to collect and record data, plot points and locations, and create/develop maps.
Participates in monitoring lake and watershed quality and assists in investigating sources of degradation.
Performs visitor assistance activities including patrol of project land and water areas.
Advises visitors concerning safety and proper use of facilities in accordance with established policies and regulations.
Assists with management of the project site dam and appurtenant structures in conjunction with daily duties.
Conditions of employment
Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
The duties of this position require travel up to approximately 5% of the time for business related reasons.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid driver's license for this position.
This position requires a Drug Test
Incumbent will be required to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.
This position is subject to unscheduled overtime.
This position has physical requirements may include prolonged standing, bending, walking through rough and uneven terrain, climbing ladders; avoiding obstructions.
May be subjected to the hazards associated with working in an outdoor environment. All safety rules and regulations must be followed during the performance of work.
Must wear Corps of Engineers Class B uniform.
For this position work is outdoors, subject to inclement weather.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a First Aid Certification.
Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds.
Must be able to obtain and maintain USACE Motorboat operator’s license.
Pre-employment physical is required. Bi-annual physical will be required after hired.
