POSITION HIGHLIGHTS
- SHIFT: second shift, full-time, 40 hours per week
- LOCATION: Cheshire Correctional Institution (Cheshire, CT)
- SCHEDULE: 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., Monday through Friday with rotating weekend and holidays.

YOUR ROLE
The incumbent in this position will have the opportunity to work within a clinically rich setting, with opportunities to provide intake assessments, individual psychotherapy, crisis management, suicide risk assessment, case management services and other clinical activities. Additional opportunities to engage in collaborative discharge planning with external support services and research driven programming, are also encouraged and available.
The duties of a Clinical Social Worker may include:
- Conducting comprehensive mental health assessments
- Developing of interdisciplinary treatment plans
- Conducting risk assessments
- Coordinating with community supports and treatment providers
- Engaging in evidence based behavioral health services including both individual and group psychotherapy
- Providing care for a population with a full array of clinical diagnoses including mood, psychotic and personality disorders
- Working as a part of a multidisciplinary team including behavioral health clinicians, psychologists, psychiatry providers and medical and corrections professionals.

OUR FACILITY
The Cheshire Correctional Institution confines adult sentenced and unsentenced offenders. It also operates several specialized housing units, including protective custody, restrictive housing and the True Program.
The facility supports the DOC initiative by providing various opportunities that address risks/needs such as; offender programming, learning a trade through prison industries, educational and vocational programming to include special education services provided to qualified students under age 22, addiction treatment programming and religious services. The incumbent in this position will have the opportunity to work within a clinically rich setting, with opportunities to provide intake assessments, individual psychotherapy, crisis management, suicide risk assessment, case management services and other clinical activities. Additional opportunities to engage in collaborative discharge planning with external support services and research driven programming, are also encouraged and available.
The Mental Health Department offers a variety of programs for offenders who are experiencing stress and depression, including emotional literacy, community groups and psycho-education.
