Position Summary & Responsibilities
The position (K0227863)
The Kansas Department of Health and Environment has a Certification Specialist opening in Topeka. The incumbent in this role will learn the daily duties of the Information Request Unit including but not limited to opening mail and marking it up correctly, answering phone calls on the AWS system and mailing out certificates.
Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
Must learn the daily duties of the Processing Unit including but not limited to print orders, match certificates to receipts, check eligibility, trim certificates and index older certificates. Must also learn the daily duties of the Customer Service Unit including but not limited to keying requests in the point-of-sale system, assist customers with kiosk orders and verify eligibility of customers.
Must learn processes for special projects for various units within the Office of Vital Statistics. Perform duties associated with special project independently, requesting assistance as needed.
Qualifications
Education:
- High School, GED
Licensing & Certification:
- Valid Driver's License - Incumbent is required to have and maintain a valid driver's license when operating a state vehicle, a private vehicle, or a rental vehicle for the benefit of the State.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Two years of experience in general office, clerical and administrative support work. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Mail room/mail sorting experience.
- Experience handling customers by phone.
- Experience with confidential information.
- 1 year of experience in office support/clerical work.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Customer service experience.
- Proofreading, editing, attention to detail.
- Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access.
