Description: We are looking students who are interested in behind-the-scenes of audio and video production to help us on various projects. If you are interested in an on-campus position where “every day is a new adventure” then working with the CLAS Production Unit may be a good fit for you. We provide technical support to the School of Journalism & Mass Communication, Cinematic Arts and Communication Studies Department. May also include camera set up for DITV Live streaming event Mondays and Wednesdays 7:30-9:30 a.m. or set up for classroom studio needs for evening classes 4:30p.m.-8:00p.m. On-the-job-training essential.
Requirements: Must be punctual, reliable, and responsible. Must be able to maintain confidentiality of data. Self-motivated to learn new skills and experiences.
Good communication skills essential. Should have reliable form of communication to keep up to date before the start of your shift.
You will learn to set up a live-shot for a morning news show, including studio lights, studio cameras, liveU backpack, remote gear, recording and streaming set up. You will work under deadline in a fast paced environment.
You will need to be able to lift 25-50 pounds of equipment, stand on feet for extended periods, able to sit at a desk for extended periods, put audio/visual equipment on shelves and take equipment off shelves. You may be doing unsupervised work but only after appropriate training. You must be able to follow supervisor’s directions, procedures, and protocols set for department. Other various duties to be assigned.
Experience working with Mac computers, video camera experience is preferred but not essential. Must own dependable alarm clock, if you are not an early riser need not apply.
