The Louis D. Brandeis Center (LDB) is an independent, non-partisan organization dedicated to advancing civil and human rights in higher education and beyond. We promote justice through research, education, and legal advocacy. Our development team supports this mission by strengthening donor engagement and expanding philanthropic partnerships.
Position Overview
LDB is seeking interns for the upcoming academic terms to work directly under LDB leadership. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience at the intersection of media strategy, legal advocacy, and public policy within a national civil rights organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Marketing and Communications Support: Assist with marketing and communications projects supporting digital and social media, drafting communications materials, and other related tasks.
- Research & Writing: Assist with research projects, draft blog entries, and contribute to educational and informational resources, including encyclopedia-style editing.
- Public Policy Support: Assist with public policy projects and legislative-related research.
- Capitol Hill Engagement: Support and staff Brandeis Center briefings and events on Capitol Hill as needed.
- Administrative & Data Support: Assist with data entry, platform organization, and general administrative tasks as required.
- Platform Development: Help develop platform tutorials and internal communications tools.

- Excellent academic credentials and strong research and analytical writing skills
- Exceptional oral and written communication abilities
- High standards of professionalism, integrity, and discretion
- Courteous, cooperative, and dependable work ethic
- Interest in nonprofit organizations, civil rights, law, communications, or public policy
- Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently and collaboratively
Learning Outcomes
Interns will gain practical experience in nonprofit communications, digital advocacy, legal and policy research, and civic engagement. Through this work, interns will develop a deeper understanding of how the law and public policy are used to combat harassment and discrimination in higher education and beyond.
