UI REACH Academic Associate

This is an Academic Year Position (Aug - May)

5-15 hours per week, with most shifts between 8-5pm Mon-Fri

Duties

-Provide direct support to UI REACH students engaging in academic campus programming

-Model and encourage appropriate social behaviors for UI REACH students in academic and community settings including: communication, interpersonal skills, and responsibility

-Establish and maintain rapport with UI REACH students

-Assist in individual or small group tutoring sessions for UI REACH students

-Help students develop self-confidence and positive attitudes toward learning and studying

-Support students with organizing homework and study materials

-Attend training sessions to increase skills and competencies

-Provide feedback and/or data to instructors, advisors, or other UI REACH staff on student progress

-Accurately record and submit hours worked

-Attend supervisory meetings as needed

-Support students in integrated UI coursework by attending class with students

-Assist in leading student support lab sessions or study groups

-May attend non-UI REACH courses as a peer support for students in inclusive coursework

-Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

-Previous experience, training, or coursework related to supporting students in an academic setting

-Growth mindset with a student-focused approach

-Flexibility in shift coverage and ability to think quickly in dynamic environments

-Availability during daytime Mon-Fri

-Successful completion of criminal background check

Desired Qualifications

-Previous experience working with individuals with disabilities

-Experience tutoring or teaching individuals or small groups

Pay Scale Starts at $16/hour
