Library Support Lead (Digitization)

Reporting to the Media Preservation Librarian, the incumbent supports the Libraries’ digitization unit in creating and preparing digital objects for preservation and inclusion in the Iowa Digital Library and Iowa Research Online. The incumbent will work closely with the Associate Curator, Iowa Women’s Archives, to focus efforts on the collecting area of Women and Sports.

• Prepares media assets, including audiocassettes, VHS tapes, etc., for digitization by a vendor.
• Assists with quality reviews of born-digital and digitized audio and video files including their associated transcription or caption files.
• Assists with the gathering and creation of metadata for digitized audio and video files.
• Assists with arrangement and description of digital objects in ArchivesSpace database.
• Assists with selecting materials for inclusion in the Iowa Digital Library.
• Gathers condition assessment data for library collections.
