Human Resources Student Position

The Stead Family Department of Pediatrics is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic student to join our Human Resources team! This role will provide exposure to HR functions and processes, including but not limited to student recruitment, HR system transactions, miscellaneous special projects, and 
administrative support. This role is a great opportunity for students pursuing a Business Administration Degree, with a focus in HR Management and has an interest in Human Resources. 


Hours will be flexible but must be between 8:00am-5:00pm, Monday - Friday. This position is located in the General Hospital. Position is available to start in March and will need to be able to work on campus in Iowa City and be available to work between 30-40 hours over the summer and must be able to work at least 10 hours per week during the academic semesters. No weekend or evening hours.
Training and mentoring will be provided.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Commit approximately up to 40 hours a week between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. for the duration of the summer.  Successful individual will continue appointment into the academic year.
  • Must be currently registered as an undergraduate or graduate student at the University of Iowa.
  • Must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills with staff, faculty, patients, and the public.
  • Must be proficient in computer software applications.
  • Must possess the ability to maintain confidential information.
  • Must be organized with a high attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in fast paced environment
  • Sophomores or Juniors enrolled in the Tippie College of Business or College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Iowa with an interest and aptitude to work in Human Resources, or business/administrative fields are encouraged to apply.
  • Students must be in good academic standing.


Desired Qualifications:

  • Related administrative or program experience of three to six months.
  • Ability to work in 3-hour blocks or more during business hours, highly preferred.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the practice of human resources.
  • Some knowledge of university policies, procedures, and regulations.
