Admission Representative
Major Responsibilities
Assist with recruitment of prospective undergraduate students to The University of Iowa. Present Iowa Overview to large and small groups of prospective undergraduate students and their families. Rate of pay is $13.00 per hour; this position may qualify for an internship notation on your university transcript.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct large and small group presentations to prospective students and their families that includes information on University of Iowa academic programs, admission procedures, housing, financial aid, support services and all aspects of college life. Presentation format may be in person or virtual.
- Must be available a minimum of two 1-hour Iowa Overview Sessions that are conducted on campus daily (Monday thru Friday), one from 9-11am. and one from 12:30-2:30pm. There may be select Saturday commitments.
- Participate in Admission recruitment programs, events, and activities both on and off-campus, this includes availability for Hawkeye Visit Days and Admitted Student Days.
- Assist with written mail, e-mail, and phone response to prospective students and families.
- Other duties/projects as assigned.
Supervision Received:
Direct supervision is received from Susan Dickinson, Senior Assistant Director.
Required Qualifications
- Applicants must possess excellent communication and presentation skills, a strong work ethic, and a high level of professionalism.
- Minimum GPA of 2.75 to be hired, and must maintain 2.75 to continue.
- Experience working with students and colleagues from a variety of backgrounds and perspectives.
- Ability to work a minimum of 4 hours per week at the times noted.
- Must be available for full academic year.
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of the nature, aims, and organizational workings of a college or university (is desirable).
- One-year direct experience in Undergraduate Admission Office, Orientation Office, College Ambassador program or previous leadership experience (is desirable).
- Availability in summer and academic breaks is preferred, but not required.
