Student Laboratory Technician - Decedent Care Center

The Decedent Care Center (DCC) is seeking student employees to perform critically essential tasks in the DCC. Responsibilities include:

  • Releasing decedents from the DCC to funeral home directors on evenings/weekends, and holidays. 
  • Serving as autopsy assistants (following appropriate training).
  • Checking, replacing and maintaining supplies and equipment in the Decedent Care Center.
  • Assisting with cleaning and case/room set up following autopsy procedures. 


This work experience provides excellent background for students with an interest in health science careers or for students with an interest in laboratory medicine, although students from any academic background will be considered.


Candidates must be able to commit for a minimum of 1 year.


Schedules will be developed on a rotating basis to cover evening, weekend and holiday hours as well as academic breaks (winter, spring, and summer). Candidates must be available to work academic breaks. Scheduled hours will fall between 7:30 am – 10:30 am, Monday – Friday, and 5:00 pm-midnight Monday - Friday and between 7:30 am - midnight on weekends/holidays . Student employees must be available to work up to 20 hours per week during the semester and between 20-40 hours per week during breaks.
