Broker Operations & Technology Analyst

FOG Equities, located in the Chicago financial district, is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented professional to support the firm’s reporting, clearing, settlement, and regulatory operations through a variety of daily responsibilities, along with work on internally developed databases and applications. This role provides hands-on exposure to the full trade lifecycle, including post-trade processing, settlement, and financial and regulatory reporting, while building technical and analytical skills in a real-world broker-dealer environment. The firm is looking for someone who can help advance our internal technology solutions to improve the team’s overall speed, accuracy, and efficiency. This is a long-term opportunity to play a meaningful role in developing systems and tools that support the firm’s continued growth and success.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Review listed equity and options transactions for reporting accuracy and compliance.
  • Preparing and submitting trade corrections and adjustments when required.
  • Work closely with management to develop, maintain, and enhance internal databases and operational applications supporting trading and clearing activity.
  • Assist in developing basic tools, queries, or automations to improve operational efficiency and data accuracy.
  • Support data quality checks, reconciliations, and exception monitoring.
  • Document workflows, data processes, and system functionality.
  • Troubleshoot data and system issues affecting trade processing and reporting.
  • Investigate and resolve trade discrepancies, breaks, or data issues.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (or expected graduation) in Finance, Economics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field.
  • Ability to prioritize daily responsibilities alongside longer term projects.
  • Strong attention to detail and interest in financial markets and trading operations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, and Excel: advanced formulas, macros, VBA).
  • Preferred skills: SQL, database concepts, APIs, SFTP, or .NET (Python scripting a plus).
  • Git/GitHub (version control, release workflows).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to learn quickly in a fast-paced, regulated environment.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
