Leadership Role at Camp Towanda - Paid Internships Available

We are looking for outgoing leaders that want to serve as role models for children and don't mind getting their hands dirty and jumping head first into a fast paced, action filled summer!

As a Group Leader, you are in total charge of a group of 20-45 campers who live in several cabins. You also supervise 8-12 staff. You need to be resourceful with leadership experience and possess high quality motivational skills. Planning and organizational skills are a key to success. Plus you need lots of stamina and energy!

We have a great support system and training to help you be a successful Group Leader. You will need to be at camp prior to the camper’s arrival for Group Leader orientation as well as a general orientation led by child development experts and our senior staff. During the summer you have the support of your counselors, an Assistant Group Leader, Head Counselor, Assistant Head Counselor and our Owners & Directors, Mitch and Stephanie Reiter.

Group Leaders run the show. They are in charge of an average group size of 30 campers and oversee approximately 10-15 staff. They are the inspirational leader that brings excitement to the group. Group Leaders are the direct liaison between their staff and our Head Counselors and Directors. Group leaders participate in an extra week of orientation in order to prepare for the summer. A typical day consists of getting everyone up and ready to start the day, lead them to activities, create a fun and engaging group dynamic, demonstrate leadership and teamwork skills,

This is THE job to prepare you for anything you will do later in life. It is "parenting 101" and tests and builds skills necessary to succeed in life. You must work cohesively with others, be responsible, manage your time and put the needs of others before yours.

Camp Towanda is the premier family-owned and operated, co-ed 7 week sleep-away camp in Northeast Pennsylvania for children ages 7-17. We are nestled on over 400 acres of beautiful fields, facilities, waterfront and countryside. At Camp Towanda, we provide a well-rounded experience for our campers and staff in a nurturing, safe environment with endless opportunities for them to try new things and feel great about themselves! All meals, room and board are included with scheduled time off. We are located near a popular summer destination in the Pocono Mountains and less than 2 ½ hours away from New York City and Philadelphia.
