Student Manager – Iowa Hawkeyes Swimming & Diving
Position Summary
The Student Manager for Iowa Hawkeyes Swimming & Diving plays a vital support role in the daily operations of the program. This position provides hands-on experience in collegiate athletics, working closely with coaches, student-athletes, and support staff to ensure efficient practice, meet, and travel execution.
Key Responsibilities
Practice & Training Support
- Assist in setting up and breaking down equipment for daily swim practices
- Manage iPads, TVs, Heart Rate monitors, and other equipment / products used
- Distribute and maintain practice gear (power towers, parachutes, sox, etc)
- Help ensure a safe, organized, and professional training environment
- Help call out times during practice
- Keep athletes water bottle filled
- Record any data coaches’ request
- Daily video coordination and analysis
Meet Operations
- Support home and away meet logistics, including deck setup and teardown
- Assist with meet information, heat sheets, and video coordination
- Provide general support to coaching staff during competitions
- Coordinate with staff members for team meals
Equipment & Inventory Management
- Track and maintain team equipment and supplies
- Organize storage areas and report equipment needs
- Assist with apparel distribution and laundry coordination
Administrative Support
- Help coordinate travel logistics, including packing, itineraries, and meals
- Perform basic office tasks such as data entry, filing, and document preparation
- Assist with recruiting visit preparations and execution when needed
- Camp Preparations
Team Support
- Serve as a positive and professional representative of the program
- Build strong working relationships with student-athletes and staff
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold team standards
- Assist with on campus recruiting activities
- Execute other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Current (Full Time) student at the University of Iowa
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and travel when required
- Interest in athletics, sports management, or related fields
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Current driver’s license
- Shows initiative
Preferred Skills
- Previous experience in sports, team management, or event operations
- Familiarity with swimming and diving terminology and competition structure
- Basic knowledge of timing systems (e.g., Colorado Timing)
- Basic Microsoft skills
- Teamworks knowledge

Time Commitment
