Grant Accounting Office – General Office Assistant

 

Pay: $12.70 per hour, must be an enrolled student at The University of Iowa   

Hours per week: generally 6-10 hours, maximum 10 hours per week

Required Qualifications:  Must be an enrolled student, must reside in the Iowa City area during the school year. Begin position in May or June 2026, to work through at least Dec 2027 and preferably continuing through at least May 2028. Commitment to a regular work schedule, strong attention to detail, the ability to work independently, excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to enter data in spreadsheets and databases accurately. The ability to work effectively in a remote-work office setting.

Desirable Qualifications: Classroom or work experience entering data in spreadsheets or databases; prefer major in Business, Finance, or Accounting.

Work Schedule: After training is complete, Flexible hours between hours of 7:30 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. Monday through Friday; after at least 3 months experience we can consider allowing weekend hours. Schedule for at least 3 days per week, preferably 4 days per week. This position requires telework/remote work; currently, there are no in-person office hours. 

Job Beginning/Ending Dates: Seeking applicants who will begin in the position in May or June 2026, to work through at least Dec2027, preferably continuing through May 2028+.  Must be an enrolled student at The University of Iowa.

Overview:  Office Assistant-Grant Accounting with data entry, query, and clerical functions. Position has flexibility, and generally attendance for at least 3 days per week is required. Training will be provided by the team supervisor and other staff, as assigned.

Duties: Perform office support activities under the direction of the supervisors in Grant Accounting. Data entry, query reports, possible AR assistance, and other clerical duties as assigned. Employees will gain experience with MS Access, Excel, and Outlook. Chief duties are to assist Grant Accounting with preparing general ledger reports using Excel and Access, possibly entering invoices into an Accounts Receivable database, and other clerical duties as assigned.
