Student Patient Care Assistant
The Institute for Clinical and Translational Science is seeking a student patient care assistant to perform specific tasks to assist members of the nursing team in providing direct care in the Clinical Research Unit clinic. We are looking for availability for Monday-Friday for the summer with the possibility of extension into the fall semester.
Key area of responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Independently obtain and record vital signs including temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure.
- Obtain body measurements.
- Rooming research participants in exam room, infusion bay and procedure rooms.
- Transports patients, equipment, specimens, and supplies.
- Shares responsibility for preparation, proper use and care of equipment and supplies, and for neatness and cleanliness of unit.
- May assemble and maintain equipment and supplies in preparation for various diagnostic or treatment procedures performed by physicians or nurse.
- Stock and supply exam rooms, infusion bay and procedure rooms
- Assist nurse under nurse supervision with procedures.
