Undergraduate Research Assistant
The Daniel Cook Laboratory in the Department of Internal Medicine and the Lung Biology and Cystic Fibrosis Research Center is seeking an undergraduate research assistant.
Duties include general laboratory maintenance such as glassware washing and sterilization, maintenance of laboratory supplies, preparation of solutions and reagents, and monitoring biohazardous and chemical waste. In addition, the main focus of this position will be the assistance of the mouse colony.
Willingness/comfort working with rodents will be required. These duties will include daily (Mon-Fri) monitoring of colony, genotyping, breeder management, and euthanasia.
This position requires reliability, good time management, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently. This is an entry level laboratory position with the potential to involve introduction to basic molecular biology techniques. Previous PCR experience a plus.
Work schedule is flexible with preference to candidates available for a minimum of 12 hours per week within the hours of 8am - 5pm.
