Summer Camp Staff - Wenatchee National Forest - Washington State

Spend the summer living and working in Washington State’s beautiful Wenatchee National Forest. Camp Zanika Lache a traditional co-ed residential summer camp, located on the shores of Lake Wenatchee, is hiring for its summer 2021 staff. At Camp Zanika we provided an amazing weeklong experience for children ages 5-17. Our diverse staff of 40 college aged individuals, from all over the world, come together to make a positive difference in the lives of the campers we serve, creating memories that last a lifetime.

We are hiring dedicated hardworking leaders that can handle the challenging camp environment, take initiative, put kids first, and enjoy being outdoors. Staff have the opportunity to learn and develop new skills, gain professional job experience, and take part in a comprehensive job training, while being given support and feedback. Pay is $2,500-$4,500 for the summer, includes meals and housing. FLSA Section 13(a)(3)

Jobs available include;
Cabin Counselors (12)-Must be 18 or older. Responsible to lead a group of campers while building relationships in group situations, one-on-one interaction, activity leadership, and much more. Needs to be an enthusiastic leader, sensitive listener, positive role model and friend to every kid in the cabin. Qualifications are outdoor/camping experience, and/or experience with children. One year of college or equivalent.

Unit Directors(8)- Must be 20 or older. A leadership position requiring organizational aptitude and the ability to lead groups of participants in a variety of activities. This position is a resource position for counselors. A “counselor-to-the-counselors.” Qualifications include camp experience, experience with children, and the ability to supervise staff. Youth programs experience a plus. At least 2 years college experience or equivalent required. Must have driver’s license and good driving record.

Assistant Camp Director- Must be 21 or older Responsible for coordination of camp programs, organization and development of camp activities, assisting with daily camp operations, record keeping and supervision of staff. General qualifications include supervisory experience, experience with camp programming, organizational skills, minimum of 21 years of age and 2 years college experience. Experience with children a plus. Must have previous camp experience and a current driver’s license and good driving record.

Teen Leadership Directors (currently Filled)- Must be 21 or older. Coordinate Leader In Training (LIT) program for 9th and 10th graders and the Counseling In Training (CIT) program for 11th and 12th graders. Teach, mentor, and lead teens through training program including activity programming, leadership skills, child development, and skill progression. Previous camp counseling and experience with teens required.

Waterfront Director- Must be 21 or older * WSI or LT certification required Responsible for supervising the other lifeguards and maintaining a safe environment on the waterfront. Supervise the waterfront staff, develop program and participate in implementation of waterfront program. Responsible for equipment maintenance and adherence to all safety standards. Qualifications are current American Red Cross WSI or LT, certification required, and supervisory experience. Must have current driver’s license and good driving record. Waterfront Lifeguard course or experience recommended.

Lifeguards(4)- Must be 19 or older *WSI or LT certification Required Guard waterfront activities as assigned by Waterfront Director. Activities include swimming, canoeing, kayaking, and beachfront activities. Qualifications are current Red Cross WSI or LT. Waterfront experiences a plus.

Arts & Crafts Instructor- Must be 19 or older Instruct campers, develop activities, manage risks, and maintain arts & crafts equipment and facilities. Organize and maintain supplies and equipment. Also responsible to help with other camp programs and activities as needed. Qualifications include training and experience in arts and crafts.

Dance/Yoga Instructor- Must be 19 or older. Instruct campers, develop dance activities, manage risks, and create dance programs. Organize and maintain supplies and equipment. Also responsible to help with other camp programs and activities as needed. Qualifications include training and experience in dance or Yoga

Challenge Course Coordinator- Must be 19 or older * Ropes Course Certification Required Directs and facilitates high ropes course, low ropes activities, and initiative activities. Serve as a support staff to counselors. Qualifications include documentation and/or certification of skills, and experience in ropes course facilitation. Experience with children a plus.

Tripping Supervisor- Must be 21 or older *WFA or similar Certification Required. Maintaining equipment, record keeping, and adherence to safety standards. Serve as support staff to counselors. Qualifications include trip planning, leadership experience, and knowledge of North Central Washington backcountry. Must be a minimum of 21 years of age and have a current driver’s license with a good driving record. Wilderness First Aid and CPR (adult & child) certification is required.

Naturalist (currently Filled)- Must be 19 or older. Teach outdoor and nature themed activities to campers, develop activities, and manage risks. Organize and maintain supplies and equipment. Also responsible to help with other camp programs and activities as needed. Qualifications include knowledge of environmental studies.

Program Specialist (2)- Must be 19 or older Food Handlers is required. Support and lead the overall operation of camp in a variety of areas, including assisting the counselors with tie-dying, assisting the kitchen, has previous fishing experience. Previous kitchen experience is preferred. Current Washington State Food Handler’s Card is required. *Fishing Requires a Washington state drivers license

Counselor Specialist- Support campers with physical, mental, developmental, and behavioral disabilities by talking to parents and working with counselors. Expertise in working with children, especially kids with special needs, is required. Driver’s license required.

Head Cook-Must be 21 or older. Pay: $4000 for entire season * Food Handlers Certification Require. Plan and cook all meals, maintain supplies, keep food records, meet health standards, and comply with seasonal food budget. Qualifications are experience cooking for large groups or equivalent education. Must have or obtain Washington Food Handler’s permit, and be serve safe certified. Includes private room.

Assistant Cook- Must be 18 or older * Food Handlers Certification Required. Assist Head Cook with food preparation, cooking, record keeping, and daily kitchen operations. Qualifications include experience cooking for large groups and/or previous cooking experience

Kitchen Assistant (2)- Must be 16 or older * Food Handlers Certification Required. Serve food, wash dishes, assist the assistant cook, and keep the kitchen clean; other duties may be assigned.

Dishwasher (3)- Must be 15 or older * Food Handlers Certification Required. Dishwasher: Wash dishes, pots-n-pans, and related kitchen equipment. Keep kitchen area clean and help serve food. Must have or obtain a Washington State Food Handler’s Permit and be at least 15 years old.

Office Assistant- Must be 19 or older. Assist the Office Manager/Camp Director in office operations including operation of the camp store, answering phones, deliver mail, assisting with parent communication and record-keeping. Excellent computer and customer service skills required.

Support Staff(2)- Support the overall operation of camp in a variety of areas, and helping to maintain a clean work environment. Previous kitchen experience is preferred. *Current Washington State Food Handler’s Card is required.
