Under the direct supervision of the Special Events Manager, the Special Events Intern will support the Development Department by assisting with events associated with the current season as well as the Christmas holiday season. Will assist with all stages of event planning and management from research and cultivation through event execution.
Available for a minimum 15 hours per week. At least a 3-month commitment.
Below identifies the essential responsibilities of the position, but is not exclusive:
·    Assist in planning and coordinating the logistics for multiple events, include events such as Doughnut Day, Salvation Army Day at Nats Park, National Salvation Army Week, Angel Tree Ribbon Cutting, the Holiday Concert, and others.
·    Attend special events and assist with day-of-event coordination.
·    Provide day-to-day support, specifically managing logistics of registration and vendors in advance and assisting with day-of-event coordination.
·    Research and identify possible donors for events (space, food, printing, supplies) and create and update databases to reflect research
·    Create collateral relating to events such as invitations, flyers, and letter drafts

Perform administrative duties such as: filing, preparing list of potential partners, research and updating information, and assisting in preparing correspondence Minimum Qualifications:
·    Enthusiasm for The Salvation Army’s mission and the families we serve, and an open and friendly spirit.
·    Completed or working towards a college degree, preferably in a related field.
·    Computer literate with strong proficiency in Microsoft Office.
·    Ability to prepare professional promotional materials.
·    Strong written and oral communication skills.
·    Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple detail-oriented projects.
·    Comfortable performing general clerical work including letter writing, filing, faxing, copying, answering phones, responding to emails, etc.
