Marketing Recruitment Assistant or Intern

Assist with the marketing efforts to recruit new Early Head Start and Head Start families located in the Ramsey County area. Community Action is committed to providing low-income families with assistance. Our team of home visitors and volunteers help pregnant women and youth from birth to age three. Head Start preschools offers high quality education for children ages 3-5.  
 
Supervisor and Mentorship Provided by: Head Start - Recruitment/Enrollment Coordinator
 
Tasks and Responsibilities:
Part 1: Focus on marketing the program: may involve visiting variety of locations in the community, assisting at events, marching in parades, digital media, and other tasks as needed; 
Part 2: Gain an overall understanding of program enrollment registration and intake process;
Assist with Welcome Day for new families and assist parents to complete applications;
Set up appointments with families to meet with Head Start staff;
Call and verify program requirements for Head Start families;
Data entry, scanning and physical filing of applications;
Assist with the preparation of recruitment packets, place stickers or tags on recruitment items, and or other office tasks. Miscellaneous tasks, as needed 
 
Qualifications:
High school diploma/GED required. Age 18+  
Possess or pursuing an Associate, Bachelor or other degree (preferred);
 
Abilities and Skills:
Completed at least one marketing class OR have direct experience with recruitment/sales OR customer service skills;
Data Entry (typing skills), filing and other office skills;
Physical dexterity to add stickers, compile information packets, and other office tasks;
English language fluency and communication skills;
Must be able to practice confidentiality and HIPAA;
Flexible regarding task assignments;
Able to work independently after task described and ask for help when needed;
Must be comfortable interacting with individuals from diverse ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds;
Able to pass a background check and provide references 
 
Additional Knowledge Beneficial: (not required)
Bilingual in Hmong, Karen, Nepali, Somali, Spanish or another language;
Valid driver’s license and access to an automobile 
  
Physical Requirements: Normal office exertion required. Ability to lift 20 lbs (desired). 
 
Cognitive Requirements: This position requires the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks under sometimes stressful conditions. Must be able to function independently with minimal supervision, accept support as needed, and be an effective team member. Must be self-motivated, dependable, and demonstrate both leadership skills and mature judgment abilities. 
 
Environmental Requirements: Multi-tasking busy flexible-space office environment. Occasional travel required to and from program sites and community agencies, mileage reimbursement for events. If you do not have access to an automobile, you may be able to car-pool with a department colleague. 
 
Time Commitment: Minimum of 4 hours per week for summer-term/semester or 3+ months. Must be available during office hours Monday - Friday from 8am-4:30pm. Occasional weekend or evening events may occur, depending upon your availability. Responsible to turn in timesheet on a monthly basis
