Senior Environmental Health & Safety Scientist

We are looking for a senior health and safety professional to join the team in our Sheboygan, Wisconsin office. We are talented, trustworthy and skilled people who are passionate about what we do and enjoy providing personalized attention to our clients. Oh, and, we like to have fun.
What you'll do
To be successful in this role, you will provide leadership and technical expertise within the health and safety consulting practice. You must apply diverse knowledge and expertise to broad assignments with industrial and governmental clients. You will help develop and provide effective and efficient solutions for a diverse mix of safety and health issues our clients face.
You will plan, develop, coordinate and maintain large and important projects, or several smaller projects, with many complex features to meet client requirements. You must understand the need to maintain confidentiality. You will develop reports, prepare correspondence and/or complete regulatory forms or documentation that meet Fehr Graham professional standards. You may review peer work as a mentor and coordinate with other staff.
You will provide technical guidance on unusual or complex problems and approval on proposed plans for projects. You must maintain ongoing knowledge regarding regulatory changes. You must know best practices in the health and safety profession and keep up with the latest training materials for our clients. You must recognize and develop market opportunities. You must be innovative and develop solutions for complex problems. Business development is a priority in this position. You will foster strong relationships with our clients and build relationships with prospective clients. You must engage trade associations and other industry groups to help grow the business.
What it takes
You need a bachelor's or master's degree in safety, environmental services or a relevant discipline and appropriate experience. Discipline examples are environmental science, geology, water resources, biology, safety, chemistry or earth sciences.
Entrants to this position typically have a minimum of eight years of progressive relevant experience. You may be a registered professional in the area of practice or possess related certifications and/or licenses.
You must speak and write well something we take seriously. You also need to be comfortable training and presenting to audiences of 10 to 50 people. You must be self-motivated and work effectively independently (with little or no direct supervision) and in teams. You also will be required to work with colleagues in our nine other offices. You need strong analytical and organizational skills. We also should mention that you will be encouraged to stretch professionally and you will be allowed to fail. Individual failure is met with great team support to achieve project success. We work hard to create an environment in which failure is a positive an opportunity to learn or solve another problem.
You need strong knowledge of safety requirements, regulations, procedures, programs and best practices for implementing effective safety programs including knowledge and experience in industrial hygiene, ergonomics, risk management, process safety management and experience in developing effective safety management systems, audit programs, and corrective action plans.
Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint are required.
