Domestic Violence Advocate-Dominican Volunteer

This Dominican Volunteer serves as Domestic Violence Advocate in Chicago, IL. The volunteer helps Sarah's Inn provide services including a crisis line, advocacy work and individual counseling for women, men, teens, and children as well as support/education groups for women, teens, and children. Volunteers serve as crisis intervention advocates, helping with the crisis line, providing support to individual clients, and acting as a group facilitator. Exact job description can vary depending volunteer interests, education and skills. Dominican Volunteers serve domestic violence victims, their children and perpetrators who are marginalized and economically poor or vulnerable. Being a Dominican Volunteer is a life-changing experience that is challenging and deeply rewarding; Dominican Volunteers make significant and lasting impacts where they serve. This is a competitive position.

All living expenses covered (room & board, food, transportation, health insurance, etc.) and monthly stipend provided. Dominican Volunteers live in diverse, intergenerational, intentional communities with peers and Dominican Sisters and live out the four pillars of Ministry, Community, Prayer & Study.

Requirements to Be a Dominican Volunteer:
Must be 21 years of age and have completed 2 years of college. Dedication, flexibility, openness to diversity in all forms, spiritual curiosity and deep compassion. *Students with DACA are very welcome! Please call with any questions.
