As branch manager for Fehr Graham in our Springfield, Illinois, office, you’ll play a key role in all aspects of the business. A successful branch manager will generate new leads through marketing calls, visits and networking; analyze prospective clients’ needs and customize ideal strategic engineering solutions; and manage office staff while making a difference in the markets we serve. Responsibilities
You will uphold the firm’s high standards for engineering design and environmental consulting services to clients. You will bring out the very best your team by promoting company policies, practices and business philosophies. You will serve as project manager, responsible for the successful completion of client projects. You will undertake business development activities and initiatives to provide a sufficient client base for the ongoing success of the firm and branch office.                                                                                                                                               
What you’ll do
You will advance significant business development activities for existing and future clients. You will represent the firm within the community and professional organizations. You will lead the design team in your branch, including developing performance goals for staff. You will manage project work and perform high-level technical work, including maintaining client contacts, preparing statements of qualifications, and offering price proposals and contracts. You will manage the day-to-day operation of your branch and report directly to Fehr Graham’s partners.

There are some other qualities you must possess. You must be a licensed civil/structural engineering professional who prides yourself on being a constant resource to clients. You need to be a trusted relationship-builder who will identify and nurture new clients, converting them into long-term Fehr Graham supporters. We want someone who likes to have fun and enjoys friendly competition. You must offer support, praise and a helping hand to peers across the firm. You need to aim to be an avid, continuous learner, who is passionate about being the best at everything. You need an outgoing personality with expertise at developing relationships, particularly with public works employees, elected officials, construction managers and property developers.
Credentials
You need a bachelor’s or master’s degree in relevant engineering discipline or similar degree with appropriate experience. You must be a licensed professional engineer with a minimum of eight years of experience in the consulting engineering industry. You need to speak and write well, something we take seriously. You must be self-motivated and work effectively independently (with little or no direct supervision) and in teams.
