Research Associate I -

The Research Associate I will be responsible for critical research support tasks including but not limited to building custom behavioral boxes for rodents with arduino microcontroller, animal behavioral training, assisting with neural implant surgeries and maintenance, neurophysiologic recordings, ordering supplies, and maintaining lab resources (protocols, manuals, documentation, and calendars). 

You will also have opportunities to analyze behavioral and neural data, and collaborate on experimental designs and prepare scientific findings for publication as author or co-author. 

Candidates will receive training in electrophysiology techniques, behavioral study design techniques, 
MATLAB programming and data analysis, and closed-loop neural interface design. 
Monitor and ensures compliance with safety standards and procedures.

Experience:

We're seeking highly motivated, detail-oriented applicants to join us as a research technician/lab manager in the new laboratory of Dr. Tanuj Gulati. Candidates with experience in a systems neuroscience lab are highly desirable. Preference will be given to those with exposure to computer programming (MATLAB, C, and/or Python), animal behavioral training, and/or experimental neurophysiology techniques. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; excellent organization skills and very detail-oriented; learns new tasks quickly; self-motivated; works well independently with minimal supervision; works well with others, and able to multitask. This is an ideal position for individuals looking for intensive research experience prior to applying to graduate school/ medical school

Educational Requirements:

Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree in bio-engineering, electrical engineering, neuroscience, or a related field.

License/Certification/Registration Requirements: N/A

Physical Demands:

Ability to stand during laboratory procedures and bench-work, use of computer, able to perform moderate lifting. Able to sit, stand and walk for prolonged periods of time. Able to exercise physical ability and acuity to satisfactorily perform essential job functions.
