Speech Language Pathologist (2018-19)

Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must have a masters degree in the appropriate special education speech discipline and must have or be eligible for an Alaska teaching certificate with the applicable special education speech endorsement.

We offer up to $5,000 for relocation depending on location.

The successful external applicant will receive a $2,000 signing bonus within the first 30 days of his/her contract.

Salary: $61,519.17 - $79,784.07 DOE
Work year: 184 day contract, August through May

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: The Speech and Language Pathologist is responsible for facilitating competency in speech and language skills in communicatively disordered students.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:
Screens students for communication disorders. Makes referrals and selects evaluative instruments from test results, student needs, and district policy.

Implements individualized education programs by preparing weekly plans consistent with the IEP. Selects and uses appropriate materials and equipment.
Proceeds to other objectives or terminating services based on the performance data and student need.

Suggests or provides instructional support and/or materials to classroom teachers for their communicatively disordered students.

Uses professional and supportive personnel and community agencies as needed.

Makes appropriate adjustments in the classroom to accommodate IEPs.
