Synthego is transforming scientists into designers with the first fully automated molecular biology lab. Lab automation is no cakewalk, though. Any given order moves through dozens of instruments, and our factory can manage throughput in the thousands. To orchestrate the chaos, our Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) sits as manager of all scientists and instruments. LIMS both juggles the task of coordinating all factory systems and analyzing the resulting instrument data generated.
Synthego moves fast. New technologies, instruments, workflows, and optimizations are constantly introduced onto the factory floor fueling our ever-growing suite of cutting-edge products. Consequently, our LIMS team must also move fast. As Synthego’s brain, our systems must properly model, track, and illuminate everything that happens in our laboratories empowering production to maintain their high level of operational excellence. Synthego is looking for a Senior Backend Software Engineer to be a key contributor to drive us towards a scalable architecture with the ability to support requirements from varying laboratories and their scientists.
What You'll Do
- Build new features and capabilities through scalable systems
- Collaborate with other (hardware/system) engineers and scientists to define, architect and ship new features
- Significantly contribute to the systems that support our rapidly growing engineered cells business
- Mentor other engineers and thoughtfully review code
About You
- BS in CS/EE and 5+ years industry experience or equivalent
- Fluent in Python
- Experience with backend technologies such Django / Flask
- Strong desire to work in a fast-paced, collaborative start-up environment
Nice to Haves
- Previous experience in the BioTech domain
- Ability to work with frontend technologies, particularly React
- Experience with mentoring and desire to mentor junior engineers
- Experience in a microservice architecture
