Sales/Business Development Internship (Summer 2019)

Our catalog consists of over 1,000,000 songs that have been performed and recorded by premiere artists.

Our industry-leading online solutions help songwriters, artists, managers, labels and publishers simplify music rights management including the administration of music publishing assets, performing rights, and digital licensing.

Interns at Songtrust have gone on to work at Songtrust, Downtown Music Publishing, HFA, Amazon, iHeartRadio, LiveNation, Sony, Columbia, The Paramount, and more.

Songtrust's Sales and Business Development team is seeking Summer interns who are passionate about music and are eager to learn more about music publishing administration. This is a great opportunity to learn how music publishing really works and gain experience working in a fast-paced tech-startup environment. This internship will be for credit only.

We’re looking for an intern with an interest in sales and the music industry to help prospect qualified artists within specific territories throughout the US. You should be able to quickly identify and research leads through various channels (social media, Spotify, Band Camp, etc.) and input the data into internal platforms for the company to reference. The individual we are looking for should be creative in their approach to finding new lead generation sources and constantly thinking ‘outside the box’. Having experience with Excel/Google Sheets is a must.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop an understanding of the different personas and verticals in the music industryManage and update CRM (hubspot)
  • Research new business and assist in product and outreach strategy
  • Discover new communities of music creators and businesses

Qualifications:
  • High level of respect and empathy for songwriters
  • Understanding of the music industry
  • Understanding of marketing techniques and practices 
  • Good writing skills 
  • Self-motivated and focused on finding opportunities and meeting goals
