Independent Living Specialist

·       Provides instruction to individuals receiving PREMIER PAYEE services. Which may include, but is not limited to:
o  Medication support (we do not administer, store, or transport medications)
o  Nutrition
o  Budgeting and money management
o  Transportation coordination
o  Assistance with entitlements
o  Crisis Management and problem solving
o  Home management skills
o  Socialization and leisure/community involvement
o  Safety planning
o  Development of natural support systems
o  Educational skills development/planning
o  Obtaining and retaining housing
o  Advocacy for clients and their care
  • Personal Hygiene
·       Assists with the development of a comprehensive assessment of each consumer’s needs;
·       Assists as assigned by the Lead Independent Living Specialist/Executive Director, writes, and implements individualized curriculums and interventions as described in the IPP;
·       Plans, teaches, and assists with recreational and leisure-time activities;
·       Teaches informal activities to supplement formal activities and training;
·       Employs crisis intervention techniques including verbal de-escalation and physical intervention as required.
·       Interacts with individuals in services in a friendly, respectful manner.
·       Acts as an advocate in a professional manner for those in services.
·       Teaches personal hygiene skills as determined by the individual’s level of need.
·       Administers medication as prescribed by the physician and in accordance with Premier Payee policies and procedures.
·       Ensures proper control of medication.
·       Ensures the health, safety and well-being of those receiving services in accordance with Premier Payee policies and procedures.
·       Assists with the development of the Individual Program/Treatment Plan.
·       Maintains all applicable records.
·       Provides pertinent information regarding consumer needs, activities, and interests.
·       Maintains positive, professional relationships with consumers, guardians, service coordination, families, supervisors, co-workers, and professionals from other agencies.
·       Protects the confidentiality and rights of all individuals served and employed by the agency.
·       Promotes a positive image of the agency and those individuals it serves.
·       Attends all trainings as required by the agency.
·       Performs other duties as necessary to meet the needs of Premier Payee.
