Camp Counselor

Make a difference and have a life-changing experience this summer by providing a camp experience for kids and adults with disabilities. All majors/career fields are welcome, no experience necessary, just the desire to learn and serve our campers.

The very deep relationships you make with our campers. Tears are often shed on the last day for both staff and campers.

Description:
Easterseals of Nebraska is currently seeking self-motivated Camp Counselors who enjoy making a difference in the lives of those with disabilities for our summer camp program. This position would be full-time during the summer and would require living on site Sunday mid-afternoon to Friday mid-morning. A week long, mandatory training will be provided. Internship opportunities are available!

Position Overview:
The Camp Counselor is responsible for conducting and/or assisting with a wide variety of individual and group programs in a safe and stimulating setting. Additionally, after thorough training, he/she will assist with activities of daily living and be responsible for the general safety and development, growth, and skill achievement of the participants under his/her care. Typical duties may include:
- Conduct and assist with camp programming activities (archery, fishing, canoeing, swimming, high ropes course, horseback riding, outdoor games, crafts, etc.)
- Provide personal care to participants (dressing, bathing, changing, lifting, transferring) (We will train you)
- Develop and maintain effective, positive relationship with campers, families and staff
- Model and mentor respectful interactions with participants
- Promote a healthy atmosphere and respond to the safety of participants accordingly
- HAVE FUN

Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED preferred, must be 18 or older.
Current CPR and First Aid certifications or able to obtain.
Ability to pass pre-employment physical.
Valid Driver’s License & Auto Insurance coverage.
Related experience working with individuals with disabilities in a camp or health care setting preferred, but not required.
Bonus pay to those who have or obtain Lifeguarding. We will reimburse lifeguard training up to $100.
