Exciting Entertainment Business Internship!

Intern Duties at Skyway Theatre & Bar Fly
         
           Skyway Theatre is the premier concert and event center in Minneapolis. With over 75,000 Sq. Ft., Skyway Theatre is one of the largest entertainment complex venues in the U.S. Skyway Theatre is also the largest general admission venue in downtown Minneapolis, giving our guests the most unique and exciting concert experiences.              

           Because we are a night club & music venue we have a lot to offer our interns. Depending on what they are interested in, they work with different professionals in our business helping with office duties, marketing, management, photography, and even sound and lighting during our events. Some of the basic duties are listed below; however we work with every intern seeking out their interests so we can place them in the right area and with the right people in our business. Previous interns have said they really like the experience of learning how everything works behind the scenes in the music business and then getting the chance to work a show and see it all come together. 

Office & General Business Duties: Answering calls, accepting deliveries, creating content for craigslist postings, making copies, filing, completing orders, selling tickets and keeping the office running smooth and organized. Interns also work with programs such as word, excel, and use Photoshop to make flyers, posters, and watermark photos. 

Journalistic/Marketing Duties: Interns create content for social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Submit Press Releases and Free Listings about events to local newspapers. Create marketing content for concerts and events. Submit creative ideas and help create unique events and parties at our club. 

Management/HR Duties: Interns create job listings for various positions available in the club, restaurant, & music venues. Interns then work with a manager to go through applicants, set up interviews, and help with the entire hiring process.

Banquet & Hospitality Management Duties: Interns work with our banquet staff; creating proposals for weddings, parties and other corporate events held at the Skyway Event Center. They help plan, organize and work with our professionals in creating unique and special events at our venues. They also help work the event to see how all of their hard work comes together live.   

Music/Booking/Promotions Duties: Interns work with our bookings professionals learning how the entire booking process works. They learn how to work with different promoters and help decide which acts to bring in and learn the step by step process from band proposals to the night of the show.  

Business Management Duties: Interns work with our club and restaurant managers learning all of the different steps it takes to run a business. They go through deliveries, work with outside vendors, learn how the ordering process works and even how to schedule workers for the different venues. 

Web Design/IT Duties: Interns work with our marketing and website specialists for our different venues, learning how to provide maintenance and make updates on all four of our company’s websites.

Sound/Lighting Duties: Interns have the chance to work with our sound and lighting technician, learning how to do the sound and lighting for shows and also how the set up and tear down process works for all of our events.

Club Duties: Interns also have the chance to work in the club and concert venues at night; working at the register, helping with coat check, watching the floor, and helping market for future shows.
