Digital Content Writer

Position Summary 
Digital Content Writers are responsible for curating and writing about the college experience. In this job you will cover things that are happening around campus. This includes, but is not limited to, researching possible story topics and interviewing people to gather related information. This person is responsible for keeping up with the highs and lows of a college student. He or she knows all the tips and tricks on how to succeed as a college student. You also will be required to keep up with educational factors such as student loans, classes offered, graduating, research and much more.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Writing original articles for The College Daily
  • Ensuring that all text elements meet Editing quality standards 
  • Double checking any necessary facts in articles & projects 
  • Seeing that all text goes through any necessary reviews 
  • Checking art/text consistency for articles submitted 
  • Proofreading all text in assigned projects/articles
  • Representing Editing concerns on the teams for assigned projects 
  • Creating and maintaining style guides for assigned work
  • Providing Editing support to other teams as needed 
  • Participating in writing team activities and supporting Editing team goals 
  • Working with project teams to create and maintain own schedule (experience with periodicals preferred)
  • Sitting for long periods and working at a computer for long periods 
  • Ability to attend campus events an report on it, this includes taking photos
  • Ability to withhold from drinking at sports events when on assignment 
  • Responsible for coordinating all media passes required and sending information to your Manager to get approved. 
  • Reading type sizes as small as 6 point on films, color copies, or other types of hard copy 
  • Catching spelling errors without electronic assistance (on hard copy)
  • Performing other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
  • currently working on a bachelor’s degree in publishing, communications, English, marketing, or related coursework
  • Ability to convey complex subject matter clearly and engagingly
  • Familiarity with word processing software
  • Team orientation, enthusiasm, and loads of flexibility 
  • Attention to detail and good multitasking skills
  • Familiarity with company's products strongly preferred 
  • Some familiarity with adventure gaming audiences preferred 
  • Familiarity with both AP and CMS style preferred 
  • Self driven
