Camp Counselor (Internship)

Camp Chen-A-Wanda is one of the hottest camps in the United States for staff from all over the world. Our programming is second-to-none with every sport imaginable along with everything from water sports to outdoor adventure to arts & crafts and so much more! We have excelled where other camps have failed by truly valuing our staff and embracing the undeniable fact that the happier a staff member is, the better our camp will be. Working at our camp will be a life-changing opportunity for you but the experience itself is what keeps our staff members coming back year-after-year. We work round the clock to provide our staff members with the best downtime experiences in the industry. We organize on-site staff events, off-site transportation for nights and days off and a welcoming culture where everyone feels like they're a part of the community the moment they set foot on our camp.

Every year we are searching for dynamic staff members to fill our most crucial roles at camp. The main three roles we recruit for are General Counselors, Specialist Counselors, and Team Leaders.

General Counselors live in a bunk with approximately a dozen campers and 3-4 other counselors/specialists. They will work with this same group of campers all summer long forming amazing bonds as these campers become your little brothers or sisters for the summer. General Counselors take their campers to every activity on the schedule meaning that a General Counselor gets to do everything on camp! When it’s time for waterskiing, get ready to jump in the lake! When it’s time for baseball, throw on a baseball glove! The General Counselor role is the best way to get the full authentic camp experience.

Specialists are counselors who also live in a bunk with a group of campers and counselors, but unlike a General Counselor, when the activity day begins a Specialist will leave their group to go and teach, coach and instruct at his/her specialty area. Lifeguards will head to the waterfront. Adventure Specialists will head to the climbing tower. Soccer Specialists will head to the soccer fields. A Specialist gets to meet every group of campers throughout the summer as they visit that specialty area while also getting to form amazing bonds with their own group of campers. We look for Specialists in the following areas:
Lifeguarding, boating, waterskiing, arts & crafts, ceramics, dance, Zumba, fitness training, guitar, drums, piano, rock-climbing, golf, archery, mountainboarding, skateboarding, ATV/quads, baseball, basketball, soccer, tennis, hockey, lacrosse, softball, football, circus trapeze, gymnastics, videography/photography, and more!

Team Leaders are staff members who are in charge of a division of campers and their staff. Typically speaking these roles are filled by experienced counselors who know our system but we will also consider new applicants. Requirements include: Must be at least 21-years-old or have a university degree. Teaching program students or graduates preferred but not required. Must be organized and able to inspire dozens of children and staff!

Life-changing opportunities await in all of our vacant positions! Make an impact and apply today.
