F1900003 - Clinical Assistant Professor, Nonprofit Leadership - Interdisciplinary Degree Programs Social Sciences

Position Summary:
The College of Arts and Sciences, The State University of New York at Buffalo, seeks to hire a Clinical Assistant Professor to teach undergraduate courses in support of the Social Sciences Interdisciplinary Degree Program’s (IDP) proposed new minor in Nonprofit Leadership. Candidates will also be expected to contribute courses to IDP’s existing majors in Health & Human Services and/or Urban & Public Policy Studies. The successful candidate should be able to design and deliver courses focused on topics such as nonprofit organizations; program and policy evaluation; philanthropy and fundraising; and/or civic engagement and public service, as well as courses in his/her area of expertise within Health & Human Services and/or Urban & Public Policy. Applicants should identify which courses they would be prepared to teach in the Teaching Statement.

In addition to teaching, the successful candidate will help to recruit and advise students in the program. The incumbent will hold a PhD in a relevant field, be a dynamic teacher in his or her specialty, and have excellent interpersonal skills.

IDP is an undergraduate program consisting of six interdisciplinary concentrations (Health & Human Services; Urban & Public Policy Studies; International Studies; Environmental Studies; Legal Studies; and Cognitive Science) that draw courses from across 27 academic departments in the Humanities, Social Sciences, Sciences, and the Arts within the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS).

This is a 10-month appointment. The normal teaching load for a Clinical Assistant Professor is four courses per semester (eight courses across the fall and spring semesters). Teaching load may be adjusted depending on service and administrative assignments. The initial appointment will be for a three-year term with possible reappointment.

•PhD in a relevant area of study in hand by time of appointment.
•Demonstrated success in undergraduate teaching and/or strong indicators of teaching ability.
•Ability to recruit and advise students.
•Excellent communication and leadership skills and ability to work as a team player.
