Staff Accountant

The Staff Accountant position reports to the Accounting Manager and is responsible for maintaining general ledger accounts and business transactions of the organization, applying Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). This includes creating financial transactions and creating financial reports from that information. This includes evaluating transactions for proper classification and making decisions regarding the posting of the transactions. The Staff Accountant also reconciles accounts to ensure their accuracy. In addition, the Staff Accountant assists with establishing policies and procedures for financial reporting, and helps maintain the Company’s Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) 404 compliance.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Maintain accounting policies and procedures that are in compliance with applicable government regulations (SOX, GAAP, IFRS)
  • Manage the processing of cash receipts, recording of revenue and receivables and work closely with the Revenue Cycle team to ensure that revenues and receivables are reconciled at any given time
  • Perform daily cash and bank reconciliation report and record corresponding journal entries
  • Perform general account analysis and reconciliations, including bank statements, fixed assets, accruals, and prepaid expenses
  • Ensure that general ledger accounts are reconciled to subsidiary records on a monthly basis to ensure accuracy
  • Assist in financial statement preparation through account classifications and transactional coding
  • Assemble information for external auditors for the annual audit
  • Calculate and issue financial analysis of the financial statements
  • Maintain an orderly accounting filing system
  • Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management
  • Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements
  • From time to time engage in assignments for upper management to address long term planning and risk assessments
