Correctional Deputy
Correctional Officers employed by the Knox County Sheriff’s Department are sworn Deputies assigned to the Correctional Division.
Correctional Officers are responsible for the day-to-day
operations and security at the Knox County Jail.
Operations in the Jail are conducted from three main
areas: Booking Room, Secure Area (Inmate Pods) and the Control Room.
Duties of a Correctional Deputies are:
· Protecting Knox County Jail from Security Breaches
· Maintaining General Order and Protecting Inmates
· Booking Arrests (Fingerprints, Photograph, etc.)
· Conducting Cell Checks and Searches
· Prisoner Transportation
· Maintaining Prisoner Records and Property
· Serving Arrest Warrants
· Coordinating Inmate Programs
· Controlling inmate and visitor movement in facility
The Correctional Division offers opportunities for advancement. The rank structure consists of three shift Sergeants, Chief of Operations and Jail Administrator.
