Portfolio Analyst Internship- Aegon AM

**Internship is full-time (30-40 hours per week) during summer part-time during fall 2019**

Company Overview:
This position will be with AEGON Asset Management, the organization which oversees asset management for many of Transamerica's insurance and operating companies as well as third party clients. The global AEGON Asset Management organization has operations in Europe, the United States and Asia. Primary offices in the United States are located in Cedar Rapids, IA, Chicago, IL and Baltimore, MD. AEGON Asset Management and Transamerica are both part of the AEGON NV group of companies. The legal entities that comprise AEGON Asset Management US are AEGON USA Realty Advisors, LLC and AEGON USA Investment Management, LLC. AEGON USA Realty Advisors, LLC manages commercial real estate, commercial mortgage loans and other real estate related investments. AEGONUSA Investment Management, LLC, is a registered investment adviser that manages fixed income assets, including public bonds, private placements, derivatives and alternative investments.
 
Position Overview: The Aegon USA Investment Management Portfolio Management Department consists of Portfolio Managers, Portfolio Analysts, and Portfolio Management Interns with the primary responsibility of supporting the Transamerica General Account portfolio. The candidate will assist the Portfolio Analytics Group in providing analytical, organizational and reporting support to the team of portfolio managers and strategists that manage Transamerica’s fixed income portfolios. 

Responsibilities:
Assist in supporting Portfolio Analysts, Tactical Portfolio Managers and Portfolio Strategists
·        Create and update portfolio management reports on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis
·        Create a monthly client reporting package for all divisions within the company
·        Enhance understanding of the investment industry and economy through various readings, meetings, and projects
·        Developing skills and knowledge of different investment software (e.g. Aladdin and Bloomberg)
·        Assist in miscellaneous special projects
 
Required Qualifications:
·        Must be currently enrolled full-time at a college or university pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, or a related field. 
·        Internships are not available for students who have completed their college education or who will graduate prior to the conclusion of the internship.
·        Good quantitative, analytical, and communication skills
·        Proven ability to use quantitative analytical tools and databases
·        Ability to work independently and as part of a team
·        Detail-oriented
·        Reliable, dependable
·        Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel
 
Preferred Qualifications:
·        Knowledge of economics, economic data, and economic forecasting
·        Understanding of finance and fixed income investments
·        Ability to develop creative solutions using spreadsheets, databases, analytical software and graphics
·        Basic understanding of investments
