FosterClub Communities Coordinator

Position: FosterClub Communities Coordinator
Responsible to: Outreach Manager
Start date: ASAP, Preferably before March 30
 
Position Summary
As a member of the FosterClub team, you will play an integral part in our organization, reporting to, and in partnership with, the Outreach Manager.
FosterClub Communities deliver innovative peer-supported, club-based mentoring for youth who experience foster care. After successfully piloting the PeerUp! FosterClub Community in Clatsop County Oregon, we are preparing to scale up this evidence-supported program to pilot sites across the country. The FosterClub Communities Coordinator will be the project manager for this expansion, and will work with partnering organizations to establish and evaluate FosterClub Community programs in multiple contexts.
Contractual Terms
  • Classification: Regular
  • Compensation: Coordinator-8; 40-48K annually, DOQ; Exempt; Full-time; Generous Paid Time Off; Dental, Medical available after July 1, 2019
  • Reports to: Shannon Symonds, Outreach Manager
  • Start Date: ASAP, Preferably prior to March 30th
  • Review: 6-month probationary period; Quarterly performance and compensation evaluations
Essential Functions:
  • Provide project management support to interdepartmental FosterClub Communities Implementation Team to prepare and deliver new partner outreach, orientation and startup nationwide
  • Provide program support to community partners, including coordination of learning opportunities (webinars, conference calls, etc.)
  • Manage iterative program improvement process (incorporating feedback from participants and partners)
  • Develop and maintain archive of FosterClub Community assets, including training documents, templates, etc.
  • Work with Outreach Manager to create and manage project budgets.
  • Serve as primary contact for inquiries about FosterClub Community Partnerships
  • Coordinate with research partners to implement rigorous program evaluation
  • Coordinate with PeerUp! team in Seaside to facilitate continuing refinement of programming and evaluation.
  • Work with Young Leaders Team to orient AllStars and Program Support Interns to the FosterClub Community Model and build capacity of Young Leaders to and share the FosterClub Communities Model
  • Support AllStar activities during internship season
  • Work with Outreach Manager to Support Young Leaders at MeetUps
  • Integrates information from feedback from with youth and partners into development and review of programming; gives special attention to feedback from youth impacted by the structural inequity of the child welfare system (i.e. LGBTQ+ youth, youth of color, tribal youth and immigrant youth)
  • Work collaboratively to reduce racial and gendered outcome disparities for youth and families engaged in the child welfare system

Competencies
  • The ability to manage projects on a national scale involving multiple departments within FosterClub as well as multiple outside partners
  • The ability to network by developing and maintaining relations, alliances and coalitions within and outside the organization and to use them in order to share the FosterClub Communities Model, recruit potential partners, provide ongoing training and technical assistance, and gather data
  • Able to communicate project details, including creating and make presentations that share complicated information in an understandable way with outside partners
  • The ability to analyze data and use results to refine programs
  • Able to work with youth in a playful and energetic atmosphere
  • Able to articulate an intersectional understanding of how race, gender, class and other categories of difference impact system involved youth
  • Required Skills, and Experience
  • Demonstrated experience with project management on a large scale, including planning, implementing and reporting functions
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain effective working relationships with multiple organizations
  • Excellent communication skills - A strong writer, compelling presenter, and responsive communicator
  • Possess the skill needed to coordinate project research and evaluation, analyze data and information to find ways to improve operations, create detailed reports of findings, simplify findings into presentations for management and stakeholders, store and organize data.
  • Demonstrated experience, interest, and aptitude to work with young people
Educational Requirements and Years in the field
  • Bachelor’s degree plus 3-years experience working in child welfare or a closely related field, Or any combination of skills and experience that demonstrates the ability to fulfill essential functions of this job
  • Experience as a project manager, including planning, implementing and reporting functions.
  • Excellent communication skills - A strong writer, compelling presenter, and responsive communicator.
  • Experience, interest, and desire to work with young people.
We’d also like to see a candidate who:
  • Has experience with association model clubs like 4H or other youth club models
  • Is well networked in the child welfare field and has a strong understanding of the system
  • Experience with the development and delivery of curriculum and training materials
  • Grant-writing experience
  • Has experienced foster care, kinship care, or has related experience
Supervisory Responsibility
  • Supervise Peer Specialists and mentors engaged in FosterClub Communities Seaside Pilot Project
  • May supervise interns under temporary assignment to the Outreach Team
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to:

  • Lifting at 35 lbs or less - Occasional
  • Air travel, driving or public transit
Expected Hours of Work and location
  • Regular office hours with occasional evenings
  • Must work from FosterClub Headquarters located in Seaside, Oregon
  • Must be available to respond, work with partners, and potentially respond to Young Leaders after-hours as needed
  • Must be willing to travel to partner locations for meetings or trainings
Travel
  • Up to 50% of time spent traveling
  • Driving within the state and potential air travel within the United States
