Associate Spay/Neuter Surgeon and Shelter Veterinarian

Are you looking for a job in the veterinary field with a great work-life balance? We have it at ABC Clinic with no weekend or evening hours, and we are looking to add a veterinarian to our team!

The Animal Birth Control Clinic of Pet Refuge, located in South Bend, Indiana is seeking an associate veterinarian to operate in their high quality, high volume, spay neuter clinic and our adjacent no-kill animal shelter, Pet Refuge. The ABC Clinic is dedicated to providing affordable services to dogs and cats of the Michiana area, serving individually-owned animals as well as nearly all locally-recognized rescue organizations, feral cat groups, and shelters for their spay/neuter needs. We operate under a strict set of surgical guidelines for spay and neuter surgery designated by ASPCA's Humane Alliance.
Daily assignments will be split between the spay/neuter clinic and the adjacent shelter, providing medical care for adoptable dogs and cats. Ultimately, after training and mentorship, we expect our doctors to be able to comfortably perform 30-35 surgeries per day when at the spay/neuter clinic.

Duties at the shelter will include basic medical examinations, creating therapeutic plans, including imaging and dentistry. We see a wide variety of concerns at the shelter ranging from acute injuries or illnesses to complex internal medicine cases and have a large amount of resources dedicated to providing the animals with the gold standard medical care. The clinic is open Monday through Friday only and the applicant will be expected to work an average of 4-5 days per week alongside our other on-staff veterinarians.

South Bend, located on the northern border of Indiana, is home to the beautiful University of Notre Dame and is only a short distance away from the beaches of Lake Michigan and a quick drive or train ride from Chicago. It is a progressive city with a great deal of positive animal welfare momentum. ABC Clinic is proud to be part of the solution in South Bend and we would love for you to join us!
