AmeriCorps Intern Teacher

Brooklyn Jesuit Prep is a Jesuit middle school for low-income students in the Crown Heights neighborhood of Brooklyn. The mission of the school is to break the cycle of poverty through education, employing a rigorous, well-rounded program with an extended school day, summer leadership camp, and graduate support. The intern teaching program at BJP offers young, talented people the opportunity to teach as a means of giving back and exploring education as a possible career track through the mentoring and guidance of master teachers. The intern teacher works as an AmeriCorps volunteer and receives a stipend for living and housing. The housing stipend provided by the school is $1,100 per month. The education stipend at the end of year is $5,920. The living stipend provided by AmeriCorps is $13,732.
