Math Apprentice Teacher (2019-2020)

Overview of Position:
DSST Public Schools seeks teachers with a track-record of raising student achievement to join a team of educators dedicated to providing a rigorous college preparatory program to a diverse population. Our teachers are leaders who play an integral role in ensuring student success through supporting our school culture, developing and instructing a rigorous core curriculum, and using data to drive their daily practice. Our math teachers teach students to see and use math in real life- while upholding the understanding that math is something we understand, not just something we do. We believe all students can be mathematicians and inspire them to see themselves as such.

Key Differences between Fellowship Teachers and DSST Lead Teachers:
A Fellow, unlike a DSST Lead Teacher, does not have the responsibility of managing the learning and culture of his/her own classroom until the end of the year. In the beginning of the Fellow Teaching experience, the teacher will not assume full responsibility for long term planning, daily planning; assessment creation, data analysis, or behavior management-- the DSST Teacher will manage all of these classroom components and help the Fellow transition to managing more on his/her own as the year progresses. By the end of the year, it is the goal of the Fellow to manage the majority of long and short-term planning, assessment creation, data analysis, and behavior management so that he/she is ready to assume full leadership of a classroom in the following school year.

We will inquire about your grade level and campus specific preference at the time of interview.
