Join our operations team as a Factory Service Engineer-Generalist working to fully automate genome engineering. You will be a key member of the Service Engineering team responsible for characterizing and modifying core automated workflows, developing equipment documentation and SOPs, recommending advanced automation equipment as well as their acceptance criteria and training users in best practices.
As a Factory Service Engineer-Generalist, you’ll be frontline support for all production needs. You will be working in a fast paced and dynamic interdisciplinary laboratory environment, supporting stakeholders involved in adapting quickly to change and new technical challenges. With your help, we’ll keep our symphony of automated instruments humming in tune.
What you’ll do
- You are frontline support for all production needs. Requests for help will flow through you, be fixed, triaged, or escalated as appropriate
- Fix the pain points. You will know what causes production the most problems today, so dive in and fix it in a way that it doesn’t bother you tomorrow
- A general understanding of all Synthego equipment and a deep understanding of how to debug them
- Provide the highest quality of service and support to our regulated clinical laboratory
- Create, maintain, and review various SOP documentation for training and support
- Continuously optimize processes to increase both quality and efficiency
About you
- B.S. in biology or related field or biomedical engineering discipline desired
- 1+ years of industry experience working with industrial and instrument controls
- An eagerness to understand and fix all of the things
- Experience debugging complex systems
- Great communication skills
- Strong desire to work in a fast-paced, collaborative start-up environment
Nice to have
- Previous experience in the Biotech domain
- Experiencing working within the regulations of a GMP lab is a plus
- Software troubleshooting experience is a plus
- Familiarity with Python
- Experience with liquid handling instruments (Hamiltons, Tecans, etc)
- Experience with electronics, especially debugging serial communications (I2C, SPI)
