Summary: 
Occupational Therapy can be extremely rewarding because you have the opportunity to help people with limited mobility regain some level of independence. Position Focus:
Occupational Therapists conduct routine examinations to measure each patients’ balance, posture and muscle performance as well as review and understand their medical history. Once exam is completed, a customized rehabilitation and treatment plan is developed to increase strength and lessen pain. Treatment plans often include different exercises and stretches, as well as hands-on therapies and machines to assist with improving muscle strength, range of motion and motor function. In addition, our Therapists will provide documentation of patient prognosis, treatment goals, responses, education on treatments and techniques to benefit patient and establish channels of communication with Nursing Staff. Our Therapists will usually encourage patients to adopt a fitness plan to help strengthen their muscles with exercise equipment. Sometimes electronic stimulation will also be used to work on soft tissue muscles that are more difficult to strengthen. Therapists will also consult with other health care professionals, including Physicians, to offer patients the best, most holistic care possible.

Additional responsibilities:
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
  • Ensures operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Complies with federal, state, and local legal and certification requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Requirements:

  • Maintain valid state Occupational Therapy License is required
  • Must possess intermediate computer skills
