Recovery Technician

Iowa Lions Eye Bank is seeking highly motivated recovery technicians. The role of the recovery technician is to perform the recovery of human ocular tissue to be used for corneal transplants as well as research and educational purposes.
After training with experienced staff, technicians work independently, traveling to hospitals, funeral homes, and medical examiners offices throughout the Iowa City/Coralville area to complete the recovery procedure. A small team of recovery personnel rotate on-call shifts to provide 24 hour daily coverage throughout the year. Required shifts will include, at a minimum, 2 evening shifts/week (5PM – 8AM shift), and 2 full weekend shifts (5PM Friday – 8AM Monday). Day time hours between 8AM-5PM also available. Schedule is flexible!
Required qualifications: a valid driver’s license/insurance/reliable transportation, a high school diploma or equivalent, a minimum 1 year commitment, good manual dexterity, and the ability, at times, to lift 50+ pounds without assistance.
Desired qualifications: experience working in an on-call capacity, familiar with aseptic technique, flexible availability, education or experience in the fields of science and/or health care.
Hourly pay rate: $3.50/hr to be on-call, $16.00/hr for actual worked hours.
Schedule type: ongoing, part time, flexible hours, nights/weekends/holidays.
